Intro to Gluten-Free Baking

We will touch on plant-sourced replacements and their effect on recipes. This class will be discussed through the lens of the extra challenge of baking without wheat flour or any other gluten-containing ingredient and what to look out for. We will discuss how to create a structure for your gluten-free baked items and give you foundational recipes and inspiration. You’ll get hands-on with a simple bread recipe and a couple of other recipes. You’ll feel how different these recipes are to make, and of course, go home with some successful and delicious treats at the end of the night!
Plant Based Kickstarter: Vegan vs. Plant Based
Wednesday, February 1
6 pm – 9 pm
Learn tips and tricks on how to satisfy your cravings without dairy and other animal products, and also how to take it a step further to cut some of the oil and processed foods out of your cooking to lead towards a more whole foods approach. We will make a 3 course meal together along with the knowledge you need to create your own menus you can stick to.
Chocoholic’s Guide to Gluten Free Basics

We will get to know all of what it takes to make the most delicious gluten free baked goods that won’t make you miss the other stuff. With Valentine’s on the horizon, everything will have chocolate spin so you can win over extra love from the people closest to you
Decadent Desserts

Bring you valentine or your best friend, or just yourself and show the love in the kitchen with vegan versions of fancy desserts you won’t believe you can make (creme brûlée anyone?) Most, if not all, items will be gluten free by default. Small amounts of alcohol may be involved, for flavoring.
Gluten Free Bread Baking

There is so much to learn when it comes to any kind of bread baking, but with a little patience and a few key tips, we will change the way you look at bread and equip you with techniques for success. Plus you’ll go home with plenty of bread to share and enjoy!
Ice Cream Social!

Supervised kids welcome! What’s better than ice cream but to make it yourself, exactly how you want t! For the adults, we’ll also learn how to fancy ice cream up and transform it into treats that feel special and pack flavor, all without dairy or eggs (and usually no gluten either!

Like the people who perform it, the craft of baking is so much more than what meets the eye. The owner of Carina’s Bakery, Carina, graduated from a top-notch pastry program at Johnson & Wales. Carina fought against a tide of peers whose careers were defined by precision and artistry, while she was continuously aerated to the science of pastry and flavor. She often thought about how she could make a path for herself as a blind baker in such a physical world.

Now, Carina wants to share her experience in hands on classes to teach cooks on how vegan and gluten free baking works. She thrives to explain how to explore new combinations and tweak recipes through taste and knowledge of what chemically works, and most importantly; how to taste and feel your way to recipe success, rather than relying on looks. Prepare to get your palms dirty in hands on classes which make you one with food and the stories behind it.

A special class designated to something more advanced is offered at Carina’s Bakery once a quarter – who knows what Carina will come up with next! Culinary fanatics and advanced cooks, stay tuned!

If you have a specific topic in mind or want to host a private party, get a group of 4-10 people together and Carina would be happy to talk about a custom cooking class for you!

Class Schedule:

Cooking classes will be held at Carina’s Bakery twice a month, with special classes once a quarter for more advanced bakers or those who want to be a little more adventurous and international. We will try to vary class days every once-in-a-while to accommodate different schedules, so check back often! Please come with basic cooking knowledge (knife handling & food safety) and wear a mask when possible.
